The form comes from the carved faux bamboo game tables of northern China around 1900, made for cards and mahjong and later used as hall tables. The Brighton keeps the square top, the apron of stacked bamboo rods and the cloud-scroll brackets at each corner, and paints the carved frame antique white with every node picked out in a fine dark line.
The top is solid mahogany in a natural hand-rubbed finish, framed by the carved bamboo edge. Large enough for four at cards, or for a hall, a window or a small dining corner.
