The wingback began in England in the late seventeenth century as a fireside chair: the wings kept draughts off the sitter and held the warmth of the fire. By the reign of Queen Anne the form had settled into the one most people picture, a tall back with a shaped top rail, wings that sweep down into scrolled arms, and cabriole legs. The Richmond keeps that outline, with a carved shell on each front knee, pad feet and plain raked back legs.
It is upholstered in tobacco saddle leather with a loose seat cushion, and a single row of antique brass nailheads follows the wings and the arm fronts. Custom upholstery to order; it sits as well in linen as in leather.

Product Care
- Dust the frame with a soft dry cloth and keep the chair out of direct sun and away from heaters.
- Vacuum fabric lightly with an upholstery brush; have spills cleaned professionally.
- Wipe leather with a soft dry cloth and condition it once or twice a year.

Final Sale
Furniture and custom pieces are final sale. Please inspect your piece at delivery and report any damage within 48 hours, with photos. We will arrange a repair or replacement at no cost to you.
