Tapestries · Handwoven Wool The Château Hunt Wall Tapestry is a wall tapestry handwoven in the United Kingdom in pure New Zealand wool, after the view of the Château de Monceaux woven for the month of December at the Royal Gobelins Manufactory in the late 17th century. Beyond a balustrade hung with red drapery, a lute and a cello, the château rises above its gardens, framed by stone columns, a swag of fruit and flowers, and a border of roses. At 78 inches wide and 93½ inches high, it fills a stair hall, a dining room or a tall wall above a sofa. It is fully lined, with a rod pocket for hanging. In stock and ready to ship. Because each tapestry is woven by hand, color and detail vary slightly from piece to piece. From Reeva Sethi Home in Saratoga, California. 198 × 238 cm (78″ W × 93½″ H) · 100%.

The Château Hunt Wall Tapestry is a wall tapestry, 198 cm wide by 238 cm high (78 × 93½ inches), handwoven in the United Kingdom in pure New Zealand wool. It is offered by Reeva Sethi Home in Saratoga, California, and is in stock and ready to ship. The design follows a celebrated tapestry woven at the Royal Gobelins Manufactory in Paris in the late 17th century, part of a series that pictured a French royal residence for each month of the year. This one is December: the Château de Monceaux, seen across its winter gardens with a hunting party in the grounds. It is a newly woven piece after that design, not a period tapestry. The composition is built like a view from a palace window. In the foreground, red drapery is thrown over a carved balustrade beside a lute and a cello, with a hound at one side and a bird at the other. Stone columns stand at either side, a swag of fruit and flowers hangs across the top, and a border of roses on a cream ground frames the whole. The tapestry is woven by hand on the loom, so the picture is built thread by thread in the wool itself rather than printed on it, with a texture you can see and feel up close. Because every piece is handwoven, color, shading and detail will vary slightly from the photographs and from one tapestry to the next. No two are exactly alike. A handwoven wool tapestry of this size is heavy, and the full lining on the back does three jobs: A rod pocket is sewn across the top of the back. Hang it with one of our tapestry hanging rods for a flush-to-wall finish, or with a decorative pole of your choice. Choose a rod wider than 198 cm; our 175–225 cm adjustable rod fits it. At this scale it is a centerpiece for a stair hall, a double-height entry, a dining room or a library wall. See more pieces in our Tapestries collection.
